From the podium Nathan Baca stated “I do this in memory of murder victims Ralph Boger, Fred Alvarez and Patty Castro. A Riverside County Sheriff’s Detective writes that he is fearful for the life of his family in following this case. I hope and pray that justice, a justice that has been delayed for far too many years, will soon be had by the families of these victims. Thank you.”

The KESQ team and their awards for various stories and newscasts. The ceremony was at the San Diego Hilton on Saturday night. “The Octopus Murders” investigative segments (FBI Parts 30-34) beat out reports from Investigative teams in San Diego that are 10 times the size of KESQ.

Another KESQ group photo. The nameplate on the award mentions the category and the name of the segment as “The Octopus Murders.”
